Santa Claus (1959) - Repost

Repost with updated link.

René Cardona (director of multiple Mexican wrestling, horror and exploitation movies, such as Survive!, Night of the Bloody Apes or Wrestling Women vs. the Aztec Mummy) put his spin on Christmas films with 1959s odd opus Santa Claus; which was distributed in the U.S. by K. Gordon Murray.

The visuals are bargain basement weirdness (check out Santa's bug-eyed telescope or Merlin as Santa's main man), the plot of Satan sending his lackey Pitch to irritate Santa while attempting to ruin Christmas never quite gels and off center dubbing all combine for this watchable chunk of cinematic high bizarreness.

Merry Christmas!

Battle Beyond The Sun / Nebo zovyot (1960)

Roger Corman purchased the Soviet created sci-fi flick Nebo zovyot,
renamed it Battle Beyond The Sun, and hired young buck
Francis Ford Coppola to film some additional scenes for it's
English language version. Most notable is the "climatic" melee
between two alien creatures, each of which crudely resembles
male and female genitals. Good times at the drive-in!

Rod Serling Interviews from 1959 and 1970

In commemoration of the Twilight Zone's 50th anniversary, I'm highlighting the man behind the show with these two Rod Serling interviews from 1959 and 1970. CBS first aired the show on October 2, 1959 and it ran for five seasons/156 episodes with Mr. Serling writing nearly 100 of them. An insightful, creative and often righteously angry man; he created an influential legacy with the original Twilight Zone programs still drawing in fans and accolades all these years later.

Although I only viewed the original Twilight Zone episodes in syndicated re-runs, I do have very hazy memories of catching the Night Gallery during it's original run. Still enjoy both series and get excited every time a three day weekend provides a Twilight Zone marathon.
