This early George Romero edit of the film was quickly put together for its premiere at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival. It is lacking much of the Goblin music but includes more footage at the docks where a tense confrontation occurs with Joe Pilato, who would reappear in a larger role in the 1985 sequel Day of the Dead.
