Little Red Riding Hood and the Monsters (1965)

Originally released throughout Mexico in 1962 as Caperucita y Pulgarcito contra los monstruos it was directed by Roberto Rodríguez as a sequel to two earlier Little Red Riding Hood children's films. Then in 1965 K. Gordon Murray picked up the film for U.S. distribution, dubbed it in English, retitled it Little Red Riding Hood and the Monsters, and added it to his stable of bizarre matinee fillers from South of the Border.

Santa Claus (1959) - Repost

René Cardona (director of multiple Mexican wrestling, horror and exploitation movies, such as Survive!, Night of the Bloody Apes or Wrestling Women vs. the Aztec Mummy) put his spin on Christmas films with 1959s odd opus Santa Claus; which was distributed in the U.S. by K. Gordon Murray.

The visuals are bargain basement weirdness (check out Santa's bug-eyed telescope or Merlin as Santa's main man), the plot of Satan sending his lackey Pitch to irritate Santa while attempting to ruin Christmas never quite gels and off center dubbing all combine for this watchable chunk of cinematic high bizarreness.

La Nave De Los Monstrous/Ship of Monsters (1960)

This offbeat hybrid western/sci-fi/musical from Mexico, The Ship of Monsters, is entirely entertaining. The fact that this is in Spanish, a language I cannot understand, does little to stop the highly watchable fun. Much effort went into the superb set designs, special effects and especially the rocking monsters from outer space.
