Tobe Hooper directed 1981s The Funhouse after completing the television mini-series Salem's Lot (1979) and just prior to his somewhat controversial involvement with the Steven Spielberg "produced" Poltergeist (1982). I first caught this on a cable tv viewing in 1982 or 83, and have always enjoyed it's horror stylings.
